Dane Tilghman
A true visionary, Dane Tilghman is one of the premier painters of African American Golf Art and Negro League Baseball images. His works have appeared in Sports Illustrated, the Western Journal of Black Studies and such hit television series as The Cosby show and Roseanne.In 1979, Tilghman received the prestigious Medal of Honor in Graphics from the American Artists Professional League. His works have been exhibited at art galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, and the Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dane created the original work for Fleetwood's First Day Cover for the 1948 Executive Order 9981 stamp of the 2005 Milestones in the Civil Rights Movement set.
