When we opened Just Lookin' in our current location on February 22, 1995, many of you thought it was an unlikely spot to have a gallery specializing only in original works by American Black artists. With your friendship we have grown to have one of the largest selections of African American original art in the country. Two interstates crossing a few miles
from our door has brought visitors from 44 states. We could not have imagined the impact of instagram and have been thrilled to
welcome virtual visitors from coast to coast.
OUR NEW WEBSITE IS COMING SOON!!!

I had so much fun hanging out with Ify Chiejina while I was in NYC recently. Her work above exemplifies her innate mastery of combining pencil, painting and fabric with great fluidity. She sculpts her fabric into kinetic mosaics that give life and depth to her creations. Her sense of design also forces us to get closer to her paintings only to discover that some of her ‘fabric’ is simply paint!
