Ama B
Ama B. was born 5th June 1957 in Kumasi, Ashanti Region of Ghana. Her father, P.K. Osei-Bonsu is from the royal family of Kumasi Tafo and her mother Mary who is deceased was from Agyratia. They were both Ashantis.
Ama B. attended St. Mary’s Secondary School graduating in 1974. She worked for several industries for a number of years before getting married and having two children and finally doing what she enjoys best - Art. She is self taught and although works with many different mediums such as watercolour, oil and pastels a vast majority of her works are in acrylics.
She has had a few private shows for select members of some diplomatic missions in Ghana as well as private shows in New Jersey; Silver Spring, Maryland; Austin, Texas and Long Island, New York. A few of her works are currently displayed at Just Lookin’ Gallery in Hagerstown, Maryland and a private art dealer in New York.
Ama B.’s technique is unique in that she dabs with her brush instead of applying strokes. She expresses herself with bold challenging colours that draw you into her paintings.
