Andrew L. Thompson, a
native of the
Andrew's art images
range from realistic to expressionistic paintings - depicting subject matter
as Western, African and Caribbean street scenes, women, cowboys, families,
and musicians. All reflecting the history and content of African-American
influences, with equal authenticity. While Thompson's art is open to various
forms of cultural expressions, he feels it is important to emphasize his culture
because every person should grow up with a sense of pride in his or her
heritage.
Thompson has received
numerous art awards, and has exhibited in many "one-man and group shows.
He has also appeared on several television specials to discuss and show his
works of art. Several of Andrew's paintings were included in an exhibition at
the State Capitol of Texas. Afterwards, the collection was shown in various
exhibitions throughout
